The Challenge
The web has democratized almost every aspect of our lives with one glaring exception: democracy itself. This year, Americans Elect and LBi are changing that by putting the first-ever presidential ticket nominated by the American people via an online convention on the 2012 ballot in all 50 states.
The Work
To build a successful platform that the American public couldn’t ignore, we knew co-creation would be the answer. So we invited the client to move into our offices and sit with our team (they’re beginning to take over!) and together we are architecting a robust platform that could change the way people nominate a president forever.
The site experience sets out to hold a national caucus where all registered voters can participate regardless of political affiliation or the state in which they live, and is designed to handle traffic of up to15-20 million people. On AmericansElect.org, the people (not politicians) will draft the candidates, shape the debate and nominate the winner. In June of 2012, the site will host the first ever non-partisan nominating convention to elect a President. The winning Americans Elect ticket will be on the ballot in the Presidential election in November 2012.
The Outcome
The convention is still six months away and so far we've signed up 400,000+ delegates. We've also got over 2 million signatures, more than half of what's required to get on the ticket for the presidential election.
