The role

1. Summary

An Associate Media Director is required to take client account direction for all digital media activity across agreed lead accounts. They will be responsible for growing these accounts, while also being an active member in new business development. They will have been in the industry for several years and will be able to represent LBi in the marketplace as a leader in digital marketing.

3. Client and Account Management

  • Production of work in a timely manner and in a suitable format
  • Strong relationships with clients, publishers, and other internal teams
  • Proactive in ideas for the clients; putting together packages for the agency to pitch to clients
  • Deliver excellent service to all LBi clients
  • Proficient use of research tools
  • Lead team, publisher and client meetings as appropriate
  • Participate in all assigned client-facing presentations
  • Ensure prompt and accurate processing of media invoices (i.e. final billing)
  • Conducts self, and communicates, professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Work proactively with line manager to ensure completion of performance reviews for self
  • Conducts timely, fair and accurate performance reviews for junior team members, using the standard templates, where appropriate and as agreed with line manager.

5. Core Responsibilities with respect to overall performance (including KPIs)

  • Keeps clients happy and excited about our work
  • Be seen as an expert and can articulate all the components of digital media and the planning process both internally and to clients
    • Works with Media Director to educate internal teams on digital media and the role it can play for the client base
    • Communicates ideas and industry trends on particular subject matter to colleagues and clients through informal communication and formal presentations and training sessions
    • Understands ePR, Social Media, SEM, Mobile, SEO
    • Understands and can articulate how the other agency disciplines contribute to the client/business
    • Steers plan recommendations and makes sure to introduce appropriate tactics/new ideas where appropriate
    • Oversees the flawless launch of campaigns and manages team to tackle issues proactively as they arise
    • Leads the creation of newsletters on current topics for clients
    • Works with department head to achieve profitability of accounts managed and account growth
    • Supports business operational processes (e.g. providing current information on upcoming campaigns, budget shifts, etc.)
    • Supports new business initiatives as requested
    • Maintains a positive attitude and inspires the team in the same manner
    • Sells in the Dashboard tool and its importance/benefit to clients
    • Sets up/runs team status meetings and events (i.e. “Lunch and Learn”)
    • Development and retention of staff; Mentors junior colleagues on a formal basis offering opinions and input in a supportive manner
  • Can step in for the department head or Media Director seamlessly with regard to team/new business/client facing tasks, if necessary
  • Endeavors to complete career objectives to timeline agreed with line manager
  • Makes use of appropriate research materials (Internet, publications, third party syndicated data, etc) to ensure skills and knowledge remain current
  • Maximizes billable hours through making oneself available for client work. Makes best use of non-billable hours by working on internal initiatives, business development and self development

6. Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; MBA, a plus
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in the digital media planning/buying field
  • Mastery of digital marketplace
  • Knowledge of how digital advertising fits in to the overall marketing mix
  • Positive sense of team spirit and willingness to pitch in
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to be able to open up dialogue with new partners and third parties
  • Strong knowledge of digital advertising mechanics, how they work together to deliver sales / bookings / brand awareness
  • An innovative thinker and planner who can push boundaries and challenge client briefs
  • Ability to construct media plan (including metrics such as ROI, revenue, response, etc.)
  • Understanding of ad server technologies, such as Atlas or DART, and their benefits
  • Ability to be able to effectively manage, train and develop any team members under supervision
  • Firm understanding and ability to use market research tools and information
