LBi picks up BRAVES award for Sony Xperia
— Sony Xperia Studio recognised as best brand channel

London and New York: Global technology and marketing agency LBi has won a prestigious BRAVES Award for its groundbreaking Sony Xperia project.
Sony and LBi’s teams in London and New York beat tough competition from Orange, AXE, Dove and Marks & Spencer to pick up the award in the Best Brand Channel category.
The Xperia project involved partnerships with a diverse range of digital innovators from Danish art collective Illutron to NASA astrophysicist Josh Peak, hot British film director Tom Harper and innovative photographer Joergen Geerds. Their brief was to use Sony Xperia smartphones to create fun, beautiful, out-there experiences that ‘Remake Reality’.
The resulting content has been brought together at xperiastudio.com, a platform for showcasing these incredible films.
To maintain a 24/7 conversation around the Xperia brand, LBi also created a variety of other content. This ranged from a ground-breaking app that simulated the remarkable goings-on in deep space that are invisible to the naked eye, to daily tweets from our collaborators and the Xperia Studio Twitter feed.
To date, Xperia Studio films have generated over 1.7m views. Engagement levels have been high, with 32% of viewers watching until the end of ‘A Ride Down Slickrock Trail’, 28% taking in all of ‘Scanned’ and 23% watching the full 9 minutes of ‘The Swarm’.
The BRAVES are the Brand Video Awards, the only awards scheme to recognise and reward the use of video by brands.
Graham Hodge, Head of Branded Content at LBi said: “The Sony Xperia work perfectly exemplifies how, with amazing content and clever online distribution, brands can engage with their audiences and work their way into positive social media conversations. In a world of short-term campaigns and PR stunts, this channel really broke new ground.”
