LBi creates PhotoHopping to promote Xperia™ smartphones from Sony

- innovative application takes users on a live photo tour of the world

London and New York: Global marketing and technology agency LBi has developed an innovative, live photo-sharing application for Sony Mobile as part of its ongoing engagementwith the leading smartphone brand.

Launching this week, Sony Mobile’s PhotoHopping experience invites people to embark on a personalised, photo-tour of the some of the world’s most popular locations based entirely on their interests.

The online and mobile application utilises Instagram’s API and connects with its 80 million members to generate bespoke music videos comprising user-generated photography from cities around the world.

Each PhotoHopping tour is set to the seminal track ‘Follow’ by folktronica band Crystal Fighters, which features in Sony Mobile’s ‘Xperia T Unleash’ TV ad. The result is a truly unique, personalised live music video experience that highlights the fact that Xperia smartphones from Sony deliver fun, entertaining and shareable experiences.

Users can choose their individual PhotoHopping experience from a list of hundreds of different subject areas. For example, they can take a surfing tour from Rio to Sydney, experience fashion from Milan to Tokyo, or discover graffiti from San Francisco to Prague.

PhotoHopping topics include popular hobbies such as dancing, karaoke and skateboarding; beautiful views including fireworks, waterfalls and castles; and other fun, international tours spanning beards, tattoos and even cheeseburgers.

Instagram photos are then displayed dynamically according to their interest tags, their popularity within the social network and the time that they were uploaded – ensuring that the PhotoHopping experience is unique to each and every user.
