London: Global marketing and technology agency, LBi, has been selected to manage the global digital media strategy, search and affiliate marketing account for Etihad Airways, following a global agency review.

The selection will enable LBi to extend its existing relationship with Etihad Airways and work with the airline to link bought, owned and earned media to power customer journeys in a way that no other agency can.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Etihad Airways is the fastest growing airline in the history of commercial aviation, so we sought out media agencies that can not only keep up with our pace of growth, but also help us bring our brand to a global audience in a more innovative and effective way.

“This is the first time we have split our ATL and digital media into separate contracts, which we elected to do simply to ensure that we are able to best leverage specialist agency strengths.”

Laurent Ezekiel, worldwide client services director, LBi, added: “Having partnered with Etihad since 2008 we are absolutely delighted by this appointment, which feels like a natural extension of our relationship, while underpinning our growth in the region under the guidance of MENA MD Amy McFarling.

“With the calibre of agencies in Etihad’s review process, our success is yet more evidence that our blended proposition is working and a point of difference in the market.”

MediaCom has been selected to manage above-the-line media planning and buying, with both agencies servicing the account globally from Abu Dhabi.

New York – LBi, the largest independent global marketing and technology agency with operations in 16 countries, today announced it has hired Paul Beck as Global Head of Audiences and Engagement.

Beck’s hire is effective immediately, and he will work out of the New York office. Joining LBi’s Executive team, he will report to LBi President Judith Carr in the US and LBi Chief Media Officer Lyndsay Menzies at LBi Group. This new role will see Beck focus on continuing to enhance and grow the already well-established media services, CRM, and analytics offered by LBi to clients including Seamless, J&J, Dyson, MoneyGram International, and Focus Features. This expansion coincides with the recent acquisition of Mr. Youth. Beck will lead the integration of Mr. Youth community management and distribution offering, rolling this out to Health, Moms and additional audience sectors.

“As the digital landscape evolves, we are seeing the need for brands to become publishers with clear content and engagement strategies. Paul will be involved in further shaping our global media and content offerings, and how they dovetail with our IP and proprietary distribution platforms,” said Lyndsay Menzies, Chief Media Officer of LBi.

“We are thrilled to have Paul joining us at LBi. He brings years of experience and thought leadership to this new role. Over the last 12 months, we’ve been focusing on our media, CRM and analytics services and the role these services have in underpinning our large client engagements. Paul will be responsible for promoting our blended media offering to clients, as well as embedding and maturing our next-generation search proposition, which will provide massive growth opportunities,” said Judith Carr, President, LBi.

Beck comes to LBi from lllumination Entertainment where he was the Executive Vice-President Worldwide Marketing, and was involved in launching the films Despicable Me and HOP. He was responsible for the filmmaker’s interests including delivering best practices, creative and innovation to the research, strategy development and production of marketing and advertising worldwide.

Before Illumination Entertainment, Paul was the Senior Partner Worldwide Executive Director of Digital at Ogilvy where he was responsible for Global Leadership in Interactive Marketing, Advertising & Social Media. He worked across IBM, American Express, Cisco and Dove, and launched new product offerings for the agency.

“LBi is an impact agency, plain and simple. Where so many digital and social agencies struggle with the execution of new ideas, it’s a dream to come to a company with the key pieces of the digital/audience service puzzle in place and working successfully. Add brains, talent, technology, grit, entrepreneurship and a progressive global culture, and anyone can see why LBi has such an impressive client list.” said Paul Beck, Global Head of Audiences and Engagements, LBi.

About LBi
LBi is a global marketing and technology agency, expert at blending strategic, creative, media and technical expertise to build business value. We help companies of all shapes and sizes decide what’s next for their business – and then we take them there.

London: Global digital marketing and technology agency LBi has appointed Fern Miller as Head of Planning for EMEA.

Miller joins LBi from creative agency Karmarama where she was a Planning Director working for brands including the BBC, lastminute.com, Age UK and Unilever. Miller brings 15 years of agency planning experience to her new role including senior positions at DLKW, JWT and Delaney Fletcher Bozell.

Miller’s appointment reflects LBi’s continued commitment to seeking out the very best people to support and grow the business. The global digital marketing and technology agency is ramping up its drive to recruit a diverse range of talent in response to increasingly sophiticated client briefs.

In her newly created role Miller will work to provide direction and input to LBi’s UK strategy and planning teams. She will also help shape the agency’s offering in key European markets.

Jonthan Isaac, Global Planning Director at LBi, said: “’We’re thrilled to have Fern join LBi – she’s a fantastic planner who will inspire the whole agency to more creative, more effective solutions. Also, she very recently got married in an Elvis costume which is all the proof we need that she’ll fit right in.”

Throughout her career Miller has worked as lead creative strategist on a series of high-profile campaigns in the Banking, FMCG, Charity and Retail sectors. She is experienced at co-ordinated teams across a range of on and offline channels to
achieve outstanding results for clients.

Miller said: “My new colleagues at LBi are an unusual bunch – in that they don’t just see the future, they make it happen. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Progress reflects success of business model transformation and strategy execution

Amsterdam (the Netherlands), 27 October 2011 – LBi International N.V. (NYSE Euronext symbol: LBI), Europe’s largest marketing and technology agency, today reports its third quarter results for the period ended 30 September 2011.

Key highlights

New credit facility agreed with ABN AMRO Bank of EUR 70 million;

Continued increase of interest by clients (brands) in agencies that blend search, social, direct response, data and digital skill sets.

Luke Taylor, CEO of LBi commented: “The progress in the third quarter and year to date reflects the success of our business model transformation and strategy execution over the past years. In the third quarter, we saw continued growth and delivered a sound margin performance. Excluding currency effects, we once again achieved double digit revenue growth.

All markets appear to be performing resiliently within the current climate and at present we do not see any evidence that major clients are belt-tightening. The prevailing mood of caution is in some instances even accelerating an increase in digital business at the expense of traditional above the line (mass media) marketing budgets. Furthermore, certain service categories such as CRM, mobile and social marketing are seeing a significant surge in growth and we are actively scaling headcount in these areas.

Recent new business wins such as E.ON, Reebok and ASDA and a strengthening pipeline provide further cause for optimism. We continue to benefit from services, category and geographic consolidation as leading brands centralise digital, data and direct activities. Our outlook for the remainder of the year is positive and we expect to maintain momentum in the fourth quarter.”

Largest Independent Global Marketing and Technology Agency Taps Mr Youth to Strengthen Social Media, Experiential and Word of Mouth Marketing Offering

Amsterdam / New York – 14 November 2011 - LBi International N.V. (NYSE Euronext: LBI), the largest independent global marketing and technology agency with operations in 16 countries, today announced that it has acquired leading social media and marketing agency Mr Youth in the US.

The acquisition perfectly fits LBi’s philosophy of blending marketing and technology services in-house. Mr Youth’s integration into LBi adds breadth and depth to the agency’s already significant social media offering, capabilities made more urgent through several significant client wins this year. Including a performance-contingent pay-out structure, the transaction is valued between $40-50 million and will immediately contribute positively to LBi’s earnings per share.

Founded in 2002 by Matt Britton, New York-based Mr Youth assists clients in driving engagement with the new generation of consumers and creating lasting brand advocacy through non-traditional channels including social media, experiential, and word of mouth marketing. The agency specializes in creating interactive brand experiences. It connects consumers through shared passions and interests, empowers them and encourages peer-to-peer recommendations with friends, families and others across the social graph.

Over the years, Mr Youth saw rapid expansion of its business and has consistently grown greater than 20 per cent year on year over the past three years, with 2011 annual sales expected to come in at approximately $25 million. The agency was recently ranked 7th among Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies in Advertising and Marketing” in the world.

The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences announced that the Secret Annex Online has won a golden Lovie Award in the category Charitable Organisations / Non-Profit and The Anne Frank Timeline has won silver in the Education category. LBi Lost Boys and the Anne Frank House worked together in close cooperation on The Secret Annex Online and the Anne Frank Timeline.

The Lovie Awards are the European Webby Awards and are awarded annually for the best online work in Europe. The Lovie Awards (a “sister award” to the Webbys) are awarded for outstanding online work in Europe. This is the first year that these awards have been given. There were almost 700 entries from 20 different countries, 14 of which have received awards. The winners will be honoured at a ceremony in London on 11 November.

The Secret Annex Online is a virtual version of the building at 263 Prinsengracht in Amsterdam where Anne Frank was in hiding for more than two years and where she wrote her world famous diary. As with millions of other Jews, Anne did not survive the horrors of the concentration camps. Since its launch in 2010, 900,000 people have already visited the Secret Annex Online. Visitors stay on average for 17 minutes (!) on the site. The Lovie Award is the fifth international prize won by the Secret Annex Online. Previous prizes include the Adobe Max Award, the European Mixx Award, a Red Dot Design Award and a prestigious Webby Award.

The Anne Frank Timeline is a visual timeline which places Anne Frank’s story in the context of important historical events. The Anne Frank Timeline starts in 1914 with the outbreak of the First World War and Otto Frank’s conscription into the German army. It describes Anne Frank’s story, the period in hiding during the Second World War and continues through to today including the significance of the diary and the Anne Frank House.
